The shear thrill of hearing a big bull Elk
Bugle is a joy that is unique. This ritual is performed especially in the fall.
When cows come into estrous and the bulls will fight for the right to mate with
the cows. These Bulls will fight each other to take over harems or herds. This
is a herd bull taking his cows up into the trees after a night of feeding in the
valley and possibly fighting and mating. They will retreat into the trees to lie
down and chew their cuds. Later on in the afternoon they get up and start it all
over again. I just love to be in a mountain meadow when the sun is just coming
up. There is a stillness that cannot be matched. Then there’s this magnificent
deep resonant –“Bugling in
Aspen” Hope you like it-
